More about Vision Correction at Eye1st Vision & Laser
Drs. Matzkin and Waring use the VISX CustomVue platform for laser correction; this is the most widely used platform in the United States. Prior to treatment, the eye is scanned with precision instruments to detect any unusual refractive errors or pathology that might require special attention or surgery other than LASIK.
The LASIK procedure itself consists of creating a thin flap on the outer layer of the eye (cornea), and reshaping the underlying cornea with an excimer laser. Typically both eyes are treated in the same sitting and it takes 10-15 minutes. The laser treatment time ranges from 5-30 seconds for most patients and depends on the prescription. Astigmatism can be very effectively treated with the laser in most cases.
Patients typically notice an improvement in vision almost immediately, but it will take 6-8 hours before the eyes are comfortable and vision clears up. Most patients achieve 20/20 vision within a few days.
Eye1st Vision & Laser offers a simple fee structure that includes pre-operative testing, refractive surgery and post-operative care for one year. The practice will match any written quote from any regional competitor. Financing is available through Care Credit.
What Do Patients Say About Eye 1st Vision & Laser?
"It took me many years to decide to have LASIK. Now, like everyone I know who had it done, I wonder why I didn't do it years ago. The pre- and post-procedure check-ups were professional and all of my questions were answered truthfully and with patience. I love Dr. Matzkin and everyone who works there. The entire process was problem-free and being able to see clearly all the time is a constant joy. My experience couldn't have been better.
Perhaps my highest compliment is that I recommended them to my brother and my dearest friend. Raising a four-year-old boy and counting on them to help, I definitely need them both healthy and very sharp-sighted!" —Amy Carter
"I can't possibly say enough praises for Dr. Waring. He is the most gracious, jubilant, humble, caring and incredibly gifted surgeon. I had LASIK on my eyes about six years ago and I can't begin to commend his mastery and skill. I am a professional photographer and you can imagine how important my eyes are. I would not trust my eyes to anyone but Dr. Waring. Besides all of his amazing attributes and charm, I have never seen so many awards, diplomas or certificates of merit in any doctor's office — that says it all. I highly recommend Dr. Waring if you are considering any type of eye correction." —Parish Kohanim
"George Waring changed my life! I wore very thick glasses since I was three years old. Can't tell you how many fights I got in as a kid because of the teasing. I have Amblyopia in one eye, so it is not correctable to 20/20. In fact, if I only had that eye, I would not be able to drive. I did wear contacts through my adult years. They were thick and had to be special ordered at the cost of over $500 per year for just two pairs. I went to several eye surgeons over the years, but none would do LASIK. They said the risk with only one correctable eye to 20/20 was too high. I did a lot of research and found Dr. Waring. I learned that he has been recognized all over the world for his work. In fact I believe he was the first eye surgeon approved by the FDA to do LASIK in the United States. Dr. Waring was confident in his ability to do it and accepted the challenge. I certainly don't think for a minute that he did it just for the money. He did it because he knew I wanted a change in my life and he believed he could get the results we wanted. That was 10 years ago and I'm still the happiest patient he has. I felt like it was a miracle. The day after the LASIK I had lunch in a high-rise and was astonished at how well I could see everything outside the windows in such detail. I would highly recommend Dr. Waring and have to several friends who all had similar great results." —Ed Zito
"Dear Dr. Matzkin, I wanted to drop you a note about how pleasant my experience at Eye 1st Vision & Laser was recently. Your entire staff — from the waiting area to the OR — was just great to my wife, Karen, and me. They were prompt, efficient and respectful during our entire treatment period. Thank you, Dr. D., for taking time to answer all of our questions about LASIK, explaining my situation and allowing me to make the decision that has allowed me to witness the world around me more clearly now! I can read the exit signs now from the SkyCopter Lounge and I have not picked up a magnifying glass to look at my map since you worked your magic. Thank you also for the patience you displayed when trying to get those contacts in! You all are the best! Happy Motoring." —Capt. Herb Emory
