More About LASIK at The Eye Associates

Patients referred to The Eye Associates can be assured that they will receive accurate evaluations, honest opinions and the most effective surgical recommendations for their personal needs. We use the most advanced technologies and techniques for laser vision correction surgery, including NASA-approved wavefront technology for Custom LASIK. The combination of comprehensive training and experience with the latest technology laser system ensures optimal LASIK outcomes. The surgical suite in Sarasota is equipped with the VISX Star 4 excimer laser, considered by many experts to be the best laser for LASIK eye surgery. The VISX Star 4 laser features a 3-D eye tracking system, iris registration, the latest wavefront technology and SmartBeam technology, which adjusts the laser beam size based on each individual treatment, thereby minimizing the amount of corneal tissue removed during LASIK surgery. The VISX Star 4 was designed to provide patients with maximum safety, precision, a speedy recovery and the best possible vision correction results.

Prior to performing LASIK surgery, the surgeon measures the patient's unique refractive errors. After administering anesthetic eye drops, the surgeon gently creates a corneal flap, a thin piece of tissue that is lifted from the surface of the eye, allowing access to the underlying corneal tissue. Next, the state-of-the-art VISX Star 4 excimer laser is used to reshape the cornea, thereby eliminating the patient's visual flaws. The corneal flap is then placed in its original position to protect the eye during the healing process.

For patients who are not good candidates for LASIK, our team also offers PRK, LASEK, Epi-LASIK, clear kens extractions/ refractive lens exchange and implantable collamer lenses. And for those patients with cataracts, the new high-tech lens implants are a great option that allow simultaneous correction of both near and distance vision so that glasses man not be needed after surgery.

The first step in eliminating your glasses or contact lenses is to schedule a FREE LASIK screening. Call The Eye Associates at (800) 941-8114 to set up that appointment and learn more about your vision correction options.
