More About Vision Correction at the Eye Institute of Utah

Eye Institute of Utah

Eye Institute of Utah

The Eye Institute of Utah's dedicated surgeons and support staff have more than 100 years' combined experience with vision correction procedures. During this time they have developed the skills and experience necessary to provide medical care that is both safe and comfortable. To ensure that patients receive world-class treatment, the institute regularly invests in the latest surgical technologies. The most advanced vision correction lasers, the Allegretto Wave Eye-Q and the IntraLase, are used in all laser refractive procedures performed at their surgery center. The Eye Institute of Utah makes it possible for all patients to receive the best treatment available.

During LASIK surgery, a flap is created on the cornea using an IntraLase laser resulting in a totally blade free procedure. Then, the surgeons use sophisticated wavefront technology to create a detailed map of the patient's eye. After analyzing this map to identify any abnormalities, the surgeons use the Allegretto Wave Eye-Q laser to reshape the cornea through a series of cool laser pulses. Lastly, the flap is returned to its original position, where it acts as a natural bandage for the cornea. This combination of advanced equipment and techniques helps the surgeons provide their patients with customized, blade-free LASIK procedures that yield excellent results.

In addition to LASIK, Drs. Crandall, Merkley and Cionni offer the AcrySof ReSTOR, ReZoom and Crystalens implantable lenses to correct presbyopia. These new lenses are enabling patients the ability to be less dependent on reading glasses, especially after cataract surgery or clear lense exchanges. Along with the other surgeons in the practice, they also specialize in performing highly complex surgeries to treat cataracts, glaucoma, retinal detachment and macular degeneration.

What Patients Are Saying About the Eye Institute of Utah

"I missed seeing my ball land after a good golf shot. I constantly had to ask what the score was for sporting events on TV. I could not read signs in the distance. For years I wondered what else I might be missing. Finally, I took the time to have my eyes checked, no hassle, no pain and no cost to me. I found that I was missing out on a large part of my life, much more than I had anticipated. I scheduled my appointment that day to have Lasik. The day of the surgery I was a little nervous. The actual procedure only lasted about 30 seconds per eye. Unbelievable! The next day I was back at work and my vision was already noticeably better! Since then I have experienced a great improvement in my daily activities. I love my new eyes and highly recommend this procedure and the Eye Institute of Utah to anyone who is wondering about improving their vision. Thank you so much!" — Jason Kassing
