About Goes Eye Centre
Dr. Frank Goes is the medical director and chief surgeon of Goes Eye Centre. He and his team meticulously examine each patient in order to design customized treatments that yield successful laser eye surgery results. During LASIK surgery, Dr. Goes uses one of the most advanced wavefront-guided systems in the world, the Wasca system, which provides a precise map, or "fingerprint," of each patient's cornea. After creating a flap in the cornea, this unique fingerprint is used to calibrate the MEL 80 excimer laser, which reshapes the cornea.

To create the corneal flap Dr. Goes uses the advanced femtosecond VisuMax Zeiss laser. This sophisticated laser allows him to perform blade-free LASIK, which offers high levels of safety, accuracy and comfort. Because the VisuMax Zeiss femtosecond laser is so precise, patients with severe myopia or thin corneas are often good candidates for LASIK with this technology. In addition to LASIK, Dr. Goes offers LASEK and PRK.
For those patients who do not qualify for laser eye surgery, Dr. Goes provides intraocular lens (IOL) surgery to correct vision. He also specializes in refractive lensectomy, a surgery that exchanges flawed lenses with high-quality intraocular lenses, including the multifocal Tecnis ReZoom IOLs. In addition, he offers Artiflex phakic lens implants to treat refractive vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.
During consultations, Dr. Goes personally examines each patient to determine the best option for vision correction. Dr. Frank Goes earned his medical degree with the highest distinction from the University of Louvain. He completed advanced training in ophthalmology at the University of Ghent. Dr. Goes has published more than 200 scientific articles on refractive and cataract surgery and has presented his work at more than 200 ophthalmology meetings. He serves as a member of the Carl Zeiss Meditec scientific advisory board and as a consultant for Advanced Medical Optics for refractive and multifocal lenses. In addition, he is the Belgian representative to the International Society of Refractive Surgery and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Goes is an active member in many international eye care organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the European Association for Ophthalmic Standardized Echography, the Excimer Laser European Ophthalmic Society, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the International Association of Ocular Surgeons and the Ophthalmic Anaesthesia Society.
