Dr. Young Choi, MD

Young Choi, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has dedicated his career to providing patients with outstanding eye care. Dr. Choi has performed thousands of LASIK procedures and is widely respected for his innovative approach to vision correction.

Dr. Choi prides himself on helping patients eliminate their dependency on glasses and contact lenses. In addition to LASIK procedures, Dr. Choi is a leading provider of lens-based refractive procedures. He was the first surgeon in the world to perform a bilateral Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) procedure on a child; in addition, he performed the first ICL procedure in Tennessee. Dr. Choi also performs presbyopic lens exchange procedures and micro-incision cataract surgery.

Dr. Choi specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of disease in the eye’s anterior segment. Dr. Choi has a particular focus on keratoconus. This slowly progressing disease causes an irregular protrusion of the cornea and can lead to serious vision loss. Dr. Choi has lectured extensively on keratoconus treatments, including INTACS (a brand of corneal implants). He has also assisted his peers in developing protocols for the detection of keratoconus in LASIK patients.

Young Choi, MD, earned his Doctor of Medicine degree and completed his general surgery internship at Loma Linda University in California. Dr. Choi has trained with some of the preeminent ophthalmologists in the world. During his ophthalmology residency at Loma Linda Medical Center, Dr. Choi trained under the highly acclaimed Dr. Howard Gimbel and completed his refractive surgery fellowship with Dr. Pallikaris, an internationally recognized ophthalmologist.
