Harvey Carter, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who is one of the most well known
physicians in the Dallas and East Texas areas. He founded the Carter Eye Center in 1986 and
has been a leader in new surgical technologies since the first day his practice opened. He has
performed more than 20,000 successful vision correction procedures and is a highly
skilled cataract surgeon.
Many celebrities, such as Dave Campo and Lou Avezzano, as well as notable athletes,
including Troy Aikman, Preston Pearson and Lee Roy Jordan, have sought the skilled hand

Dr. Carter's Background
Dr. Carter received his undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University and
his medical degree from Louisiana State University, School of Medicine. His internship was
conducted at the Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, and he served his residency in ophthalmology
at the Medical College of Georgia.
He is a member of the American Medical Association,
American Academy of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, International Society of Refractive Surgery,
Texas Medical Association and the Dallas Academy of Ophthalmology.
