Since 1973 The Braverman Eye Center, started by Dr. Howard Braverman, has been here to serve the eye needs of the community. A graduate of the University of Miami School of Medicine, Dr. Stanley Braverman completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Duke University Eye Center before joining his brother in a private practice at the Braverman Eye Center in Hallandale Beach, Florida in 1981. He practiced together with his brother until 1998, before assuming sole ownership of the Braverman Eye Center, when his brother retired from active clinical practice. Dr. Stanley Braverman is Board Certified, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Cornea Society.
Dr. Stanley Braverman was the first ophthalmologist in Broward County to use an excimer laser to perform LASIK (laser assisted in-situ keratomileusis). He was medical director of TLC, The Laser Eye Center in Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Boca Raton from 1996 until 2002 at which time he opened his own laser vision correction center, the Refractive Vision Center, at the Braverman Eye Center. As a result of the volume of laser vision correction procedures that he performs and his resultant experience Dr. Braverman has taught many other ophthalmologists how to use excimer lasers to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.
The Refractive Vision Center at the Braverman Eye Center is a premium South Florida, Ft. Lauderdale and Miami LASIK and Laser Vision Correction center. Dr. Braverman has done many thousands of LASIK, epi-LASIK and PRK corrective eye surgeries. Laser Vision Correction is done in our own state of the art laser surgical facility, featuring the Alcon LadarVision Excimer Laser, LadarWave Wavefront CustomCornea technology, and bladeless all laser Lasik. Our Laser surgical facility also features the Liebert System for separate humidity and temperature control, allowing for excellent vision results and low enhancement rates.

Unlike those laser centers that ONLY do LASIK and will persuade you to have LASIK even though it may not be the best procedure for you, we also offer other state of the art methods for vision correction. We are a leader in South Florida in refractive Presbyopic Lensectomy and Cataract Surgery, teaching many other surgeons our techniques, and have done over two thousand patients using the upgraded Array, ReZOOM and ReSTOR multifocal lens implants, which allow you to have far, intermediate and near vision after cataract or lensectomy surgery. These upgraded implants allow you to be much less dependent on glasses after surgery, with the vast majority of our patients never, or rarely, wearing glasses after surgery. In fact, Gary Player, the professional golfer, who is a happy Rezoom patient, says he is seeing like he used to see when he was thirty years old-- without glasses. Other upgraded lens implant options are also offered, such as the Crystalens, which is a truly accommodating lens implant and the Tecnis lens implant, which gives better night vision than any other lens implant, allowing you to drive more safely at night. This implant is a must if you do a lot of night driving.
We have built our reputation on integrity and the highest standards of care. We provide high quality eye care to patients throughout South Florida, primarily serving the eye care needs of patients in Hallandale Beach, Hollywood, Dania, Pembroke Pines, Fort Lauderdale, Plantation, Sunrise, Margate, Coral Springs, Pompano, Aventura, North Miami Beach, Miami Beach, Sunny Isles, North Miami and Miami, however we do see many patients from other surrounding communities in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach County, Florida. We have also developed a statewide, nationwide and international reputation and frequently see patients referred to us by other eye doctors and patients from around the world. At the Braverman Eye Center you are a very important patient, and your eye health is our top priority. We will do our best to honor your trust by providing the quality of care you require and deserve. Dr. Braverman looks forward to meeting any prospective patient who is interested in achieving the goal of a life with less dependency on glasses or contact lenses.
Dr. Braverman is a Voluntary Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute (teaching their residents for nearly twenty years), an Adjunct Associate Professor for the University of Houston College of Optometry and the New England College of Optometry as well as a Clinical Adjunct Professor at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Fort Lauderdale. He is also past Chief of Ophthalmology at Hollywood Memorial Hospital.
In addition to treating LASIK Miami patients, Dr. Braverman, a board-certified ophthalmologist, is the inventor of several eye surgical instruments, and the author of a chapter in an authoritative book on small incision cataract surgery as well as many articles for medical journals. He has frequently been asked to speak at medical conferences around the country in order to describe his techniques in modern, small incision cataract surgery (phacoemulsification). He is currently a manuscript reviewer for one of the most prestigious peer reviewed journals in ophthalmology, the American Journal of Ophthalmology.
