John P. Belardo, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who was among the first eye surgeons in Oklahoma to perform LASIK. He is the co-founder and co-owner of Advanced Laser Center in Oklahoma City and has helped more than 30,000 patients achieve near-perfect vision through laser vision correction procedures. Dr. Belardo holds advanced refractive surgery training, which he acquired under the mentorship of Drs. Trokel and Aquavella, internationally recognized eye surgeons who contributed to the development and implementation of the first excimer laser. Dr. Belardo has a passion for helping others and has traveled on mission trips to Africa, China and South America.

For LASIK eye surgery, Dr. Belardo combines the revolutionary NIDEK EC5000 laser with IntraLase technology, which yields the best possible vision correction results while delivering unsurpassed safety and accuracy.
Dr. Belardo performs bladeless LASIK eye surgery in a few simple steps: After preoperative evaluation, he administers anesthetic eye drops for maximum patient comfort. Next, using bladeless IntraLase technology, he creates an ultra-thin flap of tissue in the outermost layer of the cornea. The corneal flap is then carefully lifted and folded back, which allows Dr. Belardo to correct the patient's vision with the excimer laser. The corneal flap is then returned to its original position where it seals without the need for stitches.

John P. Belardo, MD, completed his undergraduate degree at Brooklyn College and Long Island University and his medical degree at New Jersey Medical School. He served a general surgery internship at St. Barnabas Hospital followed by a three-year ophthalmology residency at Columbia University and a one-year fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at the University of Rochester. Dr. Belardo holds advanced training in cosmetic surgery from the University of Texas Health Science Center Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is a proud member of several professional organizations, including the American Board of Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the International Society of Refractive Surgery.
