Laser Eye Surgery at Northern California Laser Center
Dr. Ash is versed in all areas of vision correction surgery. His leading-edge facility is outfitted with the latest technologies, including the state-of-the-art VISX CustomVue laser system with wavefront technology. The VISX laser platform takes extremely precise cornea measurements in order to identify curvature flaws. Dr. Ash uses these measurements to calibrate the laser for customized LASIK treatment. A separate laser, the IntraLase laser, is utilized when creating the corneal flap. This combined approach is often called all-laser LASIK or bladeless LASIK. All-laser LASIK has improved the safety and efficacy of the LASIK procedure. In a recent analysis of Top Gun pilots, it was demonstrated that bladeless LASIK produced better outcomes (as compared to traditional LASIK). At Northern California Laser Center, Dr. Ash performs the same procedure performed on the Top gun pilots.
Dr. Ashrafzadeh uses the IntraLase in LASIK vision correction.
All-laser LASIK with IntraLase has made laser vision correction a more precise science. LASIK procedures performed utilizing the traditional method — which involves the use of a blade called a microkeratome — sometimes create wrinkles that can diminish the patient's quality of vision postoperatively. This is not the case with IntraLase because it makes a precise, 70-degree edge. IntraLase has a very low incidence of cell and/or wrinkle growth beneath the flap and therefore has a higher association with positive outcomes.
Advanced cataract surgery is also available at Northern California Laser Center. This procedure replaces the eye's lenses with premium intraocular lenses, or IOLs. In addition, Dr. Ash offers RLE (refractive lens exchange).

Amin Ashrafzadeh, MD, obtained his medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine, completing a renowned early medical school admission program. He then did a special internship at Saint Elizabeth's Medical Center of Boston. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Boston University, as well as a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at the combined program of Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston and Tufts University.
Dr. Ashrafzadeh is a well-known and respected member of the ophthalmology community who has made it possible for patients having LASIK Stockton to attain their vision-related goals. Dr. Ash is a Visiting Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of California, Davis. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology.
