Mazin K. Yaldo, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist treating San Diego cataract surgery patients at Yaldo Eye Center. He has completed over 10,000 lens implant and 20,000 LASIK surgeries. The Consumers' Research Council of America selected Dr. Yaldo as "LASIK Surgeon of the Year" in 2011 and 2012. Dr. Yaldo is committed to staying abreast of technological and technical advancements in the industry, so he delivers exceptional vision correction results.
Dr. Yaldo performs "micro-incision, no-suture" cataract removal surgery with premium intraocular lens implants (IOLs). He begins the procedure by creating a miniscule, self-healing incision in the eye through which he removes the cataract-diseased eye lens. In addition to utilizing the conventional manual technique to make the needed incision, Dr. Yaldo can also perform this initial step with the use of a femtosecond laser when medically suitable for the patient, resulting in what is referred to as "all-laser cataract surgery." (By utilizing a laser to make the required incision, Dr. Yaldo provides patients with an additional level of safety and precision during cataract surgery. Also, laser cataract surgery generally allows patients to have a quicker recovery than with the conventional approach, so they can promptly resume their usual activities. In fact, laser eye surgery patients can undergo laser cataract surgery on one eye then return to Yaldo Eye Center the following day to treat the opposing eye.) Dr. Yaldo next uses ultrasound energy to break up the cloudy eye lens in a technique called phacoemulsification. He then flushes or suctions out the cataractous lens pieces before replacing the removed lens with an IOL to restore clear sight following cataract surgery. Aside from conventional IOL choices, Dr. Yaldo offers a range of premium IOL options including toric IOLs to correct astigmatism and multifocal IOLs to help patients see clearly at multiple distances.Email the Surgeon
Before starting cataract surgery, Dr. Yaldo administers topical anesthesia, so patients do not experience any pain and are comfortable for the duration of surgery. Following the procedure, the San Diego cataract surgery patients at Yaldo Eye Center notice improved vision at several distances and are often able to forgo their day-to-day dependence on prescription glasses or contact lenses.
Aside from cataract surgery, Yaldo Eye Center offers patients in San Diego LASIK and implantable contact lenses. Dr. Yaldo also provides general ophthalmology care including glaucoma management, dry eye treatment and treatment of diabetic eye problems, as well as other eye care services.
