Mazin K. Yaldo, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist treating Detroit suburbs cataract surgery patients at Yaldo Eye Center. Dr. Yaldo has performed more than 10,000 lens implants and 20,000 LASIK surgeries. The Consumers' Research Council of America recognized him as "LASIK Surgeon of the Year" in 2011 and 2012. At Yaldo Eye Center, Dr. Yaldo and his staff are committed to embodying excellence in vision correction care.
The surgeon at Yaldo Eye Center performs "micro-incision, no-stitch" cataract surgery with premium intraocular lens implant (IOL) options. He starts cataract surgery by making a small, self-sealing incision in the part of the eye that encapsulates the natural crystalline lens. Aside from using the traditional manual approach to create the initial incision, Dr. Yaldo can also perform this first step with the use of a femtosecond laser when medically appropriate, resulting in what is known as "all-laser cataract surgery." (By employing a laser to create the needed incision, Dr. Yaldo is able to offer patients added precision and safety during cataract surgery. Also, laser cataract surgery typically offers patients a faster recovery than the traditional approach does, so they return to their normal activities quickly. In fact, laser cataract surgery patients can undergo the procedure on one eye then return to Yaldo Eye Center to treat the other eye, the very next day.) Next, in a technique called phacoemulsification, the eye surgeon uses a device that delivers pulses of ultrasound energy to break up the cataract-diseased lens into pieces before flushing or suctioning them out of the eye. The ophthalmologist then replaces the cataractous (cloudy) lens with an IOL to restore the patient's vision after surgery. In addition to traditional IOL options, Yaldo Eye Center offers a variety of premium IOLs, including multifocal lenses that allow patients to see clearly at several distances and astigmatism-correcting toric IOLs.Email the Surgeon
Topical anesthetic eye drops are administered before cataract surgery, so patients do not feel a thing and are completely comfortable throughout the entire procedure. After cataract surgery, Yaldo Eye Center patients experience improved sight at multiple distances and, in some cases, are able to reduce their daily reliance on prescription eyewear dramatically.
In addition to cataract surgery, Yaldo Eye Center offers patients in the Detroit suburbs LASIK and implantable contact lenses, as well as general ophthalmology services including dry eye treatment, glaucoma management and treatment of diabetic eye conditions, among other services.
