More About Michael Summerfield, MD

Michael Summerfield, MD, earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Emory University and his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his residency training at Georgetown University Hospital/Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., where he is now the training director and teaches up-and-coming ophthalmologists cataract and anterior segment surgical techniques. In recognition of his excellence in teaching, Dr. Summerfield received the prestigious Golden Apple Award.

Dr. Summerfield belongs to a number of ophthalmology societies, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Washington, D.C.
