Jonathan D. Solomon, MD, and Stephen M. Solomon, MD, are board-certified ophthalmologists at Solomon Eye Associates Physicians & Surgeons, serving Washington, D.C., and the surrounding areas. Solomon Eye Associates Physicians & Surgeons offers comprehensive eye care, including micro-incision surgery with the placement of premium intraocular lenses (IOLs) for those whose vision is compromised due to cataracts.
During cataract surgery, the surgical team makes a tiny, self-sealing incision at the edge of the eye's cornea. Through a technique called phacoemulsification, ultrasound energy is used to break up the clouded natural lens before removing it. Then, an IOL is folded up and inserted; it opens up inside the eye. Solomon Eye Associates Physicians & Surgeons offers the most advanced types of IOLs, including Crystalens, ReZoom, ReSTOR and Tecnis multifocal lenses. Some IOLs have the ability to treat presbyopia.
Cataract surgery requires constant training and refinement; Drs. Jonathan and Stephen Solomon remain abreast of the latest developments by attending continuing education seminars. By using the micro-incision approach to cataract surgery, patients experience very little pain or discomfort, no bleeding and do not require stitches. With the placement of advanced IOLs, patients notice a significant improvement in vision at multiple distances.
Solomon Eye Associates Physicians & Surgeons is a full-service practice and offers treatments for refractive errors, glaucoma, keratoconus, dry eye, diabetic retinopathy and other common eye disorders.
