Kerry Solomon, MD, is a fellowship-trained, board-certified ophthalmologist who has gained a reputation as one of the world's top LASIK and cataract eye surgeons. Dr. Solomon has a deep passion for his work and is proud to provide his patients with comprehensive, quality eye care.
As a testament to his standing in the field of ophthalmology, Dr. Solomon has been elected as the President of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He has also been featured in a variety of media outlets, including The Today Show, The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Money magazine, Redbook magazine, Readers Digest and PBS' "Healthy Body, Healthy Mind," which aired in more than 140 countries. He was named one of the "Top 50 Opinion Leaders in the Fields of Cataract and Refractive Surgery" by Cataract & Refractive Surgery Today.
Dr. Solomon remains committed to providing his patients with the best available technology, including the latest generation of premium replacement lenses and the most advanced cataract removal techniques. He continues to be on the forefront of ophthalmological advances as Director of Carolina Eyecare Research Institute, where he and his team research new medical devices, surgical techniques and treatments for a variety of eye conditions.
Dr. Solomon uses the "no-needle, no-stitch, no-patch" technique and also offers a gentle laser-approach when performing cataract eye surgery. Before the procedure, he administers anesthetic eye drops to numb the area and to alleviate any discomfort the patient may feel during surgery. Then, he creates a small, self-sealing incision around the cornea through which he breaks apart and removes the clouded lens and replaces it with an intraocular lens (IOL). Patients with nearsightedness and presbyopia (age-related farsightedness) can choose from a variety of standard or premium IOLs provided by Dr. Solomon, including Toric IOLs to correct moderate to severe astigmatism as well as multifocal IOLs, which can reduce or eliminate dependence on glasses! The procedure is completed in a matter of minutes and many patients report improved vision within 24 hours.

In addition to cataract surgery, for patients over the age of 45 who may not have yet developed cataracts, Dr. Solomon provides Advanced Lens Replacement. This procedure is the same as cataract surgery, where the eye's natural lens is removed and an artificial lens is implanted. However, with the absence of a developed cataract, the objective is to reduce or eliminate a patient's dependence on glasses or contacts.
Dr. Solomon provides a full range of eye care services and advanced surgical
vision restoration procedures at his state-of-the-art surgical suite in South Carolina.
