Steven B. Siepser, MD, FACS, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who is highly skilled in cataract surgery. Because of his exceptional surgical skills and vast experience, Dr. Siepser has earned a reputation for excellence throughout the Philadelphia region and the state of Pennsylvania. He has performed vision correction procedures for several prominent celebrities, including Philadelphia Eagles athletes, Chad Lewis and Bobby Taylor. Dr. Siepser is also known as the "doctors' doctor" who has treated numerous other medical professionals.
Dr. Siepser specializes in the advanced "no-needle, no-stitch, no-patch" method of cataract surgery. During the procedure, Dr. Siepser creates a small, self-sealing incision in the eye. Then, he carefully breaks the clouded lens into microscopic pieces with an ultrasound instrument through a process known as phacoemulsification. He extracts the lens segments through the incision and replaces the clouded lens with a premium intraocular lens implant (IOL). Dr. Siepser offers Crystalens, AcrySof ReSTOR and ReZoom IOLs. These lenses can correct for distance, intermediate and near vision. The Crystalens IOL is an accommodating lens that moves with the eye's muscles, while the AcrySof ReSTOR and ReZoom IOLs are multifocal lenses that simultaneously correct for nearsightedness and farsightedness. During consultations, Dr. Siepser helps patients determine which IOLs are most suitable for their vision correction needs and lifestyle preferences.
In addition to cataract surgery, Dr. Siepser offers Verisyse phakic IOLs to treat nearsighted patients who are not good candidates for LASIK surgery. With Verisyse phakic IOLs, the lens implant is placed in front of the natural lens. Dr. Siepser also implants Intacs corneal rings to treat mild myopia without laser eye surgery.
