Serving patients seeking cataract surgery in Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia

Chirag S. Shah, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist and Philadelphia / Southern New Jersey cataract surgeon at LasikPlus. Dr. Shah has trained at some of the country's leading vision correction institutions, including New York University's medical school. Alongside his hand-picked team of eye care professionals, Dr. Shah provides high quality medical and surgical treatment in a professional and relaxing environment.

Dr. Shah performs cataract surgery with advanced IOLs. He begins the procedure by making a tiny incision in the corner of the eye. Using pulses of liquid or ultrasound energy, he breaks up the pieces of the cataract-diseased lens and removes them through the same incision. Then, he replaces the lens with an IOL, a lens implant designed to improve vision after cataract surgery. LasikPlus offers several types of IOLs, including lenses that can correct near, distance and intermediate vision. Dr. Shah also offers astigmatism-correcting toric lenses. His goal is to give each patient freedom from the hassle of glasses — even reading glasses.

Cataract surgery is performed under topical anesthesia, so it is not painful. Vision tends to improve within a few days of surgery, often reducing a patient's dependence on glasses or contact lenses.

In addition to cataract surgery, Dr. Shah is an experienced LASIK surgeon who has performed over 29,000 laser vision corrections. This allows him to fine-tune a patient's vision even after a cataract lens has been replaced. At LasikPlus, LASIK is included with every premium lens implant procedure.
