"Many of my patients drive and fly long distances to see me because we offer the most advanced technology in Louisiana at a very good price."
A. J. de la Houssaye, IV, MD, FACS, known as "Dr. D" to his patients, is a board certified ophthalmologist and the Medical Director of SEECA. Dr. D performs a number of vision correction procedures, including the advanced "clear cornea, topical cataract surgery." He is a renowned scholar whose research publications have appeared in Life Science Journal, and he received the LSU Research Award while attending Medical School on the Chancellor's Scholarship. In addition, Dr. D was recently named Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, one of the highest honors bestowed upon a surgeon.
Dr. D has a passion for technology and has invested in the most advanced surgical tools and intraocular lenses (IOLs). He performs all vision correction and cataract surgery procedures at SEECA in a dedicated Refractive Surgery Suite.
Dr. D invented a computerized Electronic Medical Records System to maximize cataract surgery outcomes by providing unlimited access to critical data during surgery. There are five large computer displays in the suite that Dr. D uses to monitor all facets of the surgical process. This technology dramatically improves the safety of all procedures performed at SEECA.
Dr. D also invented a patent-pending device called the "Laser Guided True Scan" that dramatically improves the calculated lens power used during lens exchange refractive surgery.
Since founding SEECA in 1998, Dr. D has performed thousands of surgeries, including refractive, cataract, glaucoma, laser and plastic surgery procedures. Dr. D has always prided himself on excellence in surgery and is constantly striving to improve his results.

Dr. D and his staff at SEECA have been specially trained to use the latest technologies and the most advanced surgical methods available in the ophthalmic field. Dr. D is an accomplished cataracts specialist who uses the "no-needle, no-stitch" method, a leading-edge procedure performed in half the time of traditional cataract surgery.
During cataract surgery Dr. D first uses topical drops to numb the eye. He then makes a small, self-sealing incision in the cornea, removes the clouded lens (cataract) and replaces it with an intraocular lens (IOL). Dr. D's cataracts patients are treated with specialized implants that include premium lenses such as Crystalens, AcrySof ReSTOR, and ReZoom lenses.
