Michael Sayegh, MD, is a highly skilled ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract surgery, clear lens surgery, laser vision correction management and glaucoma treatment. Dr. Sayegh strives to renew patients' vision and enhance their lives. He is proud to offer advanced techniques and technologies to ensure that patients receive the best care available. Due to his expertise and outstanding surgical record, the surgeon has earned a reputation for excellence throughout the Hudson Valley.
Cataract and Laser Eye Surgeons specializes in "quick vision" custom cataract surgery, also known as "no-needle, no-stitch, no-patch" cataract surgery. With this sophisticated technique, the surgeon numbs the eye with anesthetic eye drops and creates a tiny, self-sealing incision in the eye. Next, the surgeon uses ultrasound technology to break the clouded lens into smaller pieces, which are extracted through the incision. The lens is then replaced with a high-quality intraocular lens implant (IOL).
To serve the diverse needs of their patients, the practice offers several types of intraocular lenses. This includes AcrySof ReSTOR and ReZoom IOLs, multifocal lenses that correct for near and distance vision; Crystalens HD, a monofocal "accommodating" lens that allows the patient to change focus between near and distant objects with greater ease; and Toric IOLs, a monofocal lens used to correct astigmatism. Dr. Sayegh also uses limbal relaxing incisions to treat astigmatism in combination with cataract surgery.
In addition to cataract surgery, the surgical team offers laser vision correction management, glaucoma treatment, macular degeneration treatment, diabetic retinopathy treatment and clear lens surgery (refractive lens exchange). Similar to cataract surgery, clear lens surgery extracts a patient's natural lens and replaces it with an IOL. It is used to treat nearsightedness, farsightedness and presbyopia. It can eliminate the need for bifocal eyeglasses, reading glasses or contact lenses.

Cataract and Laser Eye Surgeons now offers laser cataract surgery! During laser cataract surgery, Dr. Sayegh uses a femtosecond laser to create the self-sealing incision in the eye. Using a laser for this step of the process dramatically reduces the complications associated with using a mechanical blade to create the incision.
