Robert G. Burlingame, MD, FACS, Andrew Bossen, MD, and William B. Plauché, MD, are talented, board-certified ophthalmologists at RGB Eye Associates in Sherman, Texas. The trio offers a range of vision correction procedures, including LASIK, PRK and cataract surgery with premium intraocular lens implants (IOLs). The team also offers medical and surgical treatment of common eye disorders such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye syndrome and diabetic eye diseases.
Drs. Burlingame, Bossen and Plauché have perfected an advanced version of cataract removal known as no-stitch, no-shot cataract surgery. Because of advances in microsurgery techniques, the surgeons can remove the cataractous lens through a small, self-sealing incision that does not require any stitches. Also, anesthetic eye drops — as opposed to injections of anesthesia — are used to numb the eye, eliminating the need for shots.
During no-stitch, no-shot cataract surgery, the surgeons make a small incision in the eye and use a technique called phacoemulsification to gently break up the clouded lens with an ultrasound device. The pieces of the lens are removed, and the surgeons place an IOL through the same incision. RGB Eye Associates use a variety of IOLs designed to improve vision at multiple distances; some IOL options also treat presbyopia (Crystalens) and astigmatism (Toric).
In addition to vision correction surgery and treatment of common eye disorders, the team at RGB Eye Associates also offers eyelid surgery, Botox injections, dermal fillers and Latisse (an eyelash-thickening product).
