William J. Rand, MD, and Robert S. Nagler, MD, are experienced eye surgeons with board certification in ophthalmology. Collectively, they have performed more than 40,000 eye surgeries. As an innovator in his field and leading cataract surgery specialist, Dr. Rand is co-inventor of the Rand-Stein analgesia protocol, a technique created to provide increased comfort to patients undergoing cataract surgery and LASIK. Dr. Rand is a recipient of the American Medical Association's "Physicians Recognition Award," which was bestowed upon him in recognition of his remarkable surgical record.

During cataract surgery, the surgeons make a tiny incision in the eye and carefully extract the cataract, which they then replace with a premium intraocular lens implant (IOL). They offer several IOLs, including ReSTOR, ReZoom and Crystalens.
Dr. Rand and Dr. Nagler also offer Visian implantable contact lenses (ICLs) for patients who are not eligible for LASIK surgery. These lenses are placed in front of the eyes' natural lenses to provide for clear vision.

William J. Rand, MD, completed a medical degree at the State University of New York. He continued his education with a microsurgical ophthalmology residency at the Brooklyn Eye and Ear Hospital and the Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, where he served as Chief Resident during his final year. He then performed a fellowship at the Institute of Ophthalmology in Houston and the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. Dr. Rand has written several published journal articles and has presented his research at various ophthalmology conferences. He also teaches ophthalmologists throughout South Florida. Dr. Rand is a member of several medical organizations, including the American Medical Association and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
Robert S. Nagler, MD, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with summa cum laude honors and Phi Beta Kappa distinction from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He continued his education by completing a medical degree at the New York University School of Medicine in New York City. After medical school, Dr. Nagler performed an internal medicine internship at Boston City Hospital. He also served as an Attending Physician in Ophthalmology at Huntington Hospital in New York. Dr. Nagler is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Allison L. Rand, MD, completed her undergraduate education at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. She received her medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and completed a postgraduate internship in internal medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Rand went on to complete her residency in ophthalmology at the State University of New York, Downstate in Brooklyn. She completed a fellowship in cornea, external diseases and refractive surgery at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, where she studied under the mentorship of Penny Asbell, M.D.
She maintains a dedication to international surgical efforts, and recently returned from a mission to Vietnam in association with the Hawaiian Eye Foundation, where she performed adult and pediatric corneal transplants and taught advanced surgical techniques to local ophthalmologists. While in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Dr. Rand also lectured at the First Joint Meeting Cornea Subspecialty Day at the Vietnamese American Ophthalmology Symposium.
