Providing cataract surgery with Crystalens, AcrySof ReSTOR, ReZoom in Ft. Lauderdale, Deerfield Beach, Florida

William J. Rand, MD, and Robert S. Nagler, MD, are board-certified ophthalmologists who have performed more than 40,000 eye surgeries. As a leading cataract surgery specialist and innovator in his field, Dr. Rand is co-creator of the Rand-Stein analgesia protocol, which helps cataracts and LASIK patients feel more comfortable during their surgeries. In recognition of his exceptional surgical record, Dr. Rand was honored with the American Medical Association's "Physicians Recognition Award." In addition, Dr. Rand and Dr. Nagler have been privileged to have a Bolivian microsurgery facility named in honor of Rand Eye Institute.

The eye surgeons are experienced at several advanced cataract surgery methods, including extracapsular, phacoemulsification, one-stitch, no-stitch, self-sealing, clear-cornea, sclera-corneal incision and pars plana. With these techniques, the surgeons create a small incision in the eye, carefully extract the clouded lens and insert a premium intraocular lens implant (IOL). They offer multifocal AcrySof ReSTOR and ReZoom lenses to correct near and distance vision, as well as accommodating Crystalens lenses to help patients change focus between objects at various distances.

In addition to cataract surgery, Dr. Rand and Dr. Nagler offer Visian implantable collamer lenses (ICLs), for patients who are not good candidates for LASIK surgery. These lenses are placed in front of the eyes' natural lenses to achieve clear vision.
