Dr. Randal Pham and his
team of excellent nurses.

Randal Pham, MD, FACS, is a board-certified ophthalmologist and a pioneer in cataract surgery who boasts more than 15 years' experience. He was the first eye surgeon in Northern California to use multifocal AcrySof ReSTOR intraocular lens implants, and to date he has performed more AcrySof ReSTOR implantations than any other eye surgeon in the Bay Area. Dr. Pham was also the first ophthalmologist and oculofacial plastic surgeon to receive the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery's "Best Clinical Science Award." In recognition of his accomplishments and surgical record, he was named one of "Silicon Valley's Top Docs" by San Jose Magazine, as well as "America's Top Ophthalmologist, Oculofacial Plastic Surgery Subspecialty" by the Consumers' Research Council of America. For his outstanding work, Dr. Pham was also honored in the 2003 Stanford University Dean's Letter.

Dr. Pham performs advanced cataract surgery with his trademark "Pham hook" instrument to produce remarkable results. First, he creates a small incision in the eye that is less than three millimeters long. Next, he rotates the clouded lens (cataract) using the "Pham hook" and then gently suctions it out. Once the cataract is removed, he inserts the advanced Acrysof AcrySof ReSTOR intraocular lens implant (IOL), the most widely used multifocal IOL in the world. This premium IOL provides for near, intermediate and distance vision, often eliminating the need for eye glasses or contact lenses. Using his advanced techniques, Dr. Pham has inserted more than 3000 AcrySof ReSTOR IOLs into the capsular bag without breaking a single capsule, a record second to none. Dr. Pham performs surgical procedures at the Aesthetic and Refractive Surgery Medical Center, a facility that is endorsed by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. He also has hospital privileges at Stanford University Hospital, O'Connor Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital.
