Northeastern Eye Institute
200 Mifflin Ave.
Scranton, PA 18503
With years of collective experience, the ophthalmologists at Northeastern Eye Institute (NEI) have performed tens of thousands of successful eye surgeries, including cataract surgery. NEI understands that each patient's case is unique, and is pleased to offer both traditional cataract surgery and custom laser cataract surgery to achieve the best outcome for each patient.
Traditional cataract surgery involves using a handheld surgical tool to make small corneal incisions to access the lens. The cloudy lens is broken up into small pieces using high-frequency ultrasound and then gently suctioned out of the eye. In custom cataract laser surgery, an advanced laser replaces the surgical tool in key steps of the cataract removal process, achieving even more precise results. Once the cloudy lens is removed, it will need to be replaced by an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). NEI offers several premium IOLs customized to fit the eye specifications of each patient's eye.
In addition to advanced cataract surgery, NEI also offers bladeless LASIK surgery for patients who wish to achieve 20/20 vision or better and reduce their dependence on glasses and contacts. The bladeless LASIK procedure utilizes the latest technology available in refractive surgery, such as VISX CustomVue for custom vision correction, to produce the safest, most precise results possible.
Voted "Best Eye Center" in Scranton through Reader's Choice Awards in the Times Tribune, NEI offers comprehensive eye care to adults and children alike, including routine eye exams and diagnosis and treatment for various eye diseases (e.g., glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy).
