Serving patients seeking cataract surgery with premium intraocular lens implants in the Las Vegas area

Matthew Swanic, MD, is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist who offers his patients both traditional and laser cataract surgery at Las Vegas Eye Institute. Dr. Swanic uses the latest technology and surgical methods as a corneal specialist, and provides exceptional, individualized care to his patients. This high-quality patient care is reflected in his ability to choose the lens implant option that will provide the patient with the best visual outcome. Dr. Swanic offers premium intraocular lens implants (IOLs) as a cataract surgery option; these lens implants provide sharper vision than before cataracts were present, as they correct common refractive errors so that the patient is no longer dependent on glasses or contacts. To learn more about these premium IOLs for your cataract surgery procedure, ask Dr. Swanic about the toric IOLs (to correct astigmatism) and multifocal IOLs (to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and presbyopia) that he offers.

Along with cataract surgery, Dr. Swanic also offers LASIK surgery, dry eye treatment, glaucoma treatment and Descemet's Stripping Endothelial Keratoplasty (DSEK) for the treatment of corneal conditions.

Cataract Surgery at Las Vegas Eye Institute

Dr. Swanic offers his patients the option of having traditional or laser cataract surgery at Las Vegas Eye Institute. The difference between the methods is that in the traditional procedure, a surgical blade is used to make an incision in the cornea (the transparent film on the eye surface), whereas a laser is used to create this incision in the laser cataract procedure. Regardless of the method used, the procedure is a quick and painless process. Once the corneal incision is made (with the eye numbed using anesthetic eye drops), the clouded lens is removed from the eye and replaced with an artificial lens implant. The patient can choose to use a standard lens implant, which restores vision at a fixed distance, or a premium IOL, which restores vision at multiple distances. Patients can expect improved vision immediately after the procedure, which typically takes about 20 minutes to perform. After surgery, there is minimal downtime, and patients can return to their normal daily activities — including driving, going to work and exercising — the next day.
