Kenneth Lipstock, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract surgery and Laser Vision Correction. Dr. Lipstock is one of the few cataract surgeons in central Virginia who performs the most advanced form of cataract surgery known as No-Needle, No-Stitch, No-Patch cataract surgery. Dr. Lipstock has performed thousands of these surgeries for more than a decade and has earned a reputation for excellence in Richmond and throughout central Virginia.

The "no needle, no stitch, no patch" method of cataract surgery minimizes complications and promotes quicker recovery periods. Dr. Lipstock begins the procedure by numbing the eye with eye drops. (This practice differs from traditional cataract surgery, during which surgeons completely sedate the patient in order to use a needle injection to administer the numbing medicine.) Dr. Liptsock then creates a microscopic incision in the eye, carefully extracts the clouded lens (the cataract) and implants an intraocular lens implant (IOL).

Dr. Lipstock was Virginia's first surgeon to perform LASIK to eliminate the need for eyeglasses. He utilizes a variety of advanced techniques to reduce or eliminate the need for eyeglasses after cataract surgery. Patients can choose from a variety of IOLs, including the Toric and the accommodating Crystalens. The Toric IOL treats astigmatism, and the Crystalens improves a patient's ability to change focus between objects at various distances, enabling one to both drive and read without glasses. Dr. Lipstock also performs Limbal Relaxing Incision (LRI). Performed during cataract surgery, this technique creates tiny incisions in the edge of the cornea that correct for astigmatism. Dr. Lipstock can also perform Laser Vision Correction after cataract surgery to help eliminate the need for eyeglasses.

Kenneth Lipstock, MD, graduated with Summa cum Laude honors from Queens College City University of New York. He then completed a Doctor of Medicine degree at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. Dr. Lipstock performed an internal medicine internship at the Nassau County Medical Center in East Meadow, New York, and an ophthalmology residency at the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Lipstock then studied abroad under world renowned eye surgeon Dr. Luis Ruiz, the inventor of the surgical instrument that made LASIK possible. Dr. Lipstock co-founded the International Center of Refractive Surgery with Dr. Ruiz. Dr. Lipstock is also the former President of EyeQual and President of the Virginia Ophthalmic Network. He is a member of several medical organizations, including the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the Virginia Society of Ophthalmology, the Medical Society of Virginia and the Richmond Academy of Medicine, Inc. Dr. Lipstock resides in Richmond with his wife and three children.
