Providing cataract surgery with Crystalens, AcrySof ReSTOR, ReZoom or Toric IOLs in Southern New Jersey

Anthony C. Zacchei, MD, and Mark Blecher, MD, are board-certified ophthalmologists who specialize in cataract surgery, glaucoma treatment and refractive surgery like LASIK and the Visian lens implants. With more than 160,000 successful eye procedures performed, Dr. Zacchei and Dr. Blecher have earned recognition as some of the leading eye surgeons in South Jersey. They provide continuing education for area eye doctors, students and residents, and participate in on-going studies to develop the technologies of tomorrow.

By offering the most advanced cataract surgery available, the Kremer cataract specialists are able to eliminate injections and stitches, accelerate recovery times and quickly restore your vision. We can often address other vision disorders while performing your cataract surgery, including astigmatism and near vision problems.

Cataract Surgery

First, we give the patient a mild anesthesia and apply topical anesthetic eye drops to desensitize the eye, a technique pioneered at Kremer Eye Center, which eliminates bruising and soreness associated with injections. Patients taking medications such as aspirin and coumadin usually do not need to interrupt their dosage.

Our surgeon then makes a small opening in the eye, dissolves and removes the cataract using ultrasound waves (phacoemulsification), and implants a synthetic lens in its place. With this approach, most routine activities can be resumed in a short period of time. Advanced lens options are available at Kremer Eye Center.

Advanced Lens Implants

Advanced lens implants can reduce or eliminate your need for reading glasses and/or distance glasses after cataract surgery. Compared to traditional single-focus lens implants, advanced lenses are designed to provide an expanded range of vision. Kremer Eye Center's cataract specialists were among the first in the region to use many advanced lenses, including AcrySof ReSTOR, ReZoom, Crystalens and AcrySof Toric lenses (to correct astigmatism). Your Kremer cataract surgeon will help you choose the best lens for your needs during an in-depth evaluation.

Visian ICLs

Visian ICLs (implantable collamer lenses) procedure corrects mild to high myopia (nearsightedness) for patients who do not qualify for LASIK. Kremer Eye Center's surgeons have 10 years‘ experience with this type of procedure, having implanted a similar lens under an FDA protocol with great success. Kremer Eye Center continues to be at the forefront of this leading-edge technology and is proud to be one of six national surgeon-training sites for the Visian ICL procedure.

In addition to cataract surgery, Kremer specialists also provide LASIK surgery and advanced glaucoma treatment.

At Kremer Eye Center, our focus is always on what is best for each individual patient. From our staff to our technicians, to our cataracts specialists, everyone is here to make you feel comfortable and cared for every step of the way.

What Do Patients Say About Kremer Cataract Surgery?

"When I was diagnosed with cataracts, I went to a doctor in Philadelphia for an exam and just didn't feel comfortable with him. Then a cousin sent me to Kremer and she was right, it was a great experience.

I met with Dr. Zacchei, and he immediately recommended a Toric lens implant to help correct my astigmatism. I had never heard of the lens, so my husband and I did a great deal of research, and we had a lot of questions. I was impressed that Dr. Zacchei called us back at least three times, with both of us on the phone with him. I just loved the way he was easy to talk to and very forthcoming.

As it turned out, I got the Toric lens, and it's phenomenal. I'd worn glasses all my life, and now for the first time I don't have to. It's amazing."
