Lawrence Katzen, MD, and Jerome Ramos-Esteban, MD, are board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologists who specialize in cataract surgery in West Palm Beach, Boca Raton and Palm Beach Gardens, South Florida. With more than 20 years' experience, Dr. Katzen has been recognized as a leading eye surgeon nationally and internationally. He has treated many celebrities, including TV host John Walsh, and his surgical teaching accomplishments have been acknowledged by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Additionally, Dr. Katzen regularly donates his time to the Planet Orbis organization, which helps treat blindness in third world countries.
Dr. Katzen and Dr. Ramos-Esteban specialize in the advanced "no-needle, no-stitch" technique of cataract surgery. With this method, they first numb the eye with anesthetic eye drops and create a small incision. Then, they carefully extract the clouded lens and replace it with a premium intraocular lens implant (IOL). The eye surgeons at Katzen Eye Care offer several types of high quality IOLs, including Crystalens, AcrySof ReSTOR and ReZoom. The Crystalens IOL is an accommodating lens that moves with the eye's muscle, helping patients seamlessly change focus from near to distance objects. AcrySof ReSTOR and ReZoom IOLs are multifocal lenses that can improve patients' abilities to see both near and far.
Dr. Katzen and Dr. Ramos-Esteban also offer Visian implantable collamer lenses (ICL). This state-of-the-art lens is placed in front of the eye's natural lens to treat myopia. In addition, they are highly skilled LASIK surgeons who perform the advanced IntraLase and CustomVue techniques of laser eye surgery.
