Charles D. Fritch, MD, FACS, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has served patients in the Bakersfield area for more than 30 years. A pioneer in cataract surgery, Dr. Fritch holds patents on his surgical advancements in lens implantation and endoscopic laser therapy. He also has served as a Co-Director for the Cataract and Corneal Fellowship Program at the University of California, Irvine. In recognition of his expertise, Dr. Fritch has been invited to lecture to various international ophthalmological organizations.
Dr. Fritch specializes in cataract surgery with premium intraocular lens implants (IOL). He begins the procedure by creating a small incision in the eye, through which he extracts the clouded lens (cataract). Then, he replaces the cataract with a Crystalens IOL, which improves the eye's ability to change focus from near to distant objects. Dr. Fritch is also one of the few eye surgeons in the area to perform posterior capsulotomy with the YAG laser, which treats clouded posterior capsules following cataract surgery. By incorporating the latest technologies and techniques into his practice, Dr. Fritch is able to offer unsurpassed care and outstanding results.
In addition to cataract surgery, Dr. Fritch offers LASIK, glaucoma treatment and general ophthalmology services. The Fritch Eye Care Medical Center is committed to patient satisfaction.
