Foulkes Vision Institute is a state-of-the-art vision correction facility committed to providing patients with the highest level of visual freedom possible. Dr. Foulkes and his staff believe this is only possible by incorporating the latest therapies and the most advanced refractive surgery technologies available.
For laser cataract surgery, Dr. Foulkes utilizes the CATALYS laser system, which provides customized and precise treatment. Although traditional cataract surgery is a safe and effective procedure, the CATALYS laser enhances the precision of the procedure and often provides better results. The CATALYS system is a bladeless, computer-controlled laser that allows Dr. Foulkes to plan and perform surgery taking each eye's exact specifications. During the procedure, the CATALYS system designs a 3D map of each eye, which allows Dr. Foulkes to create a customized treatment plan. Dr. Foulkes will then use the laser to create an incision to access the cataract infected lens. The CATALYS softens and breaks up the cataract for easy and gentle removal. Using the 3D map, Dr. Foulkes is able to insert the IOL precisely in place.
The CATALYS system offers the following advantages:
