Cornerstone Eye Associates is the practice of choice for residents of Rochester struggling with vision loss from cataracts. With over 50 years of experience treating cataracts and other common vision disorders, the Cornerstone team shares a devotion to providing exceptional patient care and innovative treatment solutions. Cataract surgery patients can rest assured they have trusted their vision to experts that have their best interests at heart.
At Cornerstone Eye Associates, cataracts are treated swiftly and lenses are replaced with state-of-the-art artificial implants. Patients have a choice in their lens implant and can select the option that best suits their vision needs and lifestyle. The Cornerstone team is there every step of the way to help patients make educated decisions about their care.
In addition to cataract surgery, the doctors at Cornerstone Eye Associates offer laser vision correction of refractive errors, as well as treatment for other common vision problems such as glaucoma, dry eyes and retinal disease.
Cataract surgery is a short and virtually painless procedure for the patient. A small incision is created in the eye to access the capsule that holds the cataractous lens. The capsule is opened with a tiny circular tear. Ultrasonic energy is used to fragment the lens into small pieces. Then, the pieces are gently suctioned from the eye. An artificial lens implant is inserted through the original incision and carefully positioned. Finally, the incision is closed with a small stitch (or it may heal by itself). Patients can return home shortly after surgery and typically recover within a few days.
"The whole experience was great. All of the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. All of my questions were answered, most before I even thought to ask them. The process went just as expected, as long as the healing process continues to go well I couldn't ask for a better experience!" – anonymous
"Everyone was very helpful and comforting, making the procedure an easy to manage experience. Did not feel worried or unsure at all about my decision to have the surgery. Great job Cornerstone!" – anonymous
"I am writing this letter a few months after the surgery. I am still seeing 20/20 and I cannot stop smiling. I really appreciate the time and effort you had put into this whole process. Your entire staff made me feel like I was the only patient and they all took very good care of my concerns and questions. I cannot stop talking to everyone I know about my surgery and how excited and pleased I am. I highly recommend you to anyone and everyone I talk with." – anonymous
