Dr. Collins specializes in "no-needle, no-stitch, no-patch" cataract surgery with phacoemulsification and uses the most advanced techniques and technology in southwest Florida. He begins the procedure by applying anesthetic eye drops and creating a tiny, self-sealing incision in the eye. Then, he breaks apart the clouded lens with ultrasound waves and extracts it through the incision. Next, he replaces the lens with a premium intraocular lens implant (IOL). He offers several top-of-the-line premium IOLs, including Crystalens HD, Tecnis, ReSTOR and ReZoom. Crystalens is an accommodating lens that gently moves with the eye's muscles to improve the patient's ability to change focus from near to distant objects, while ReSTOR, ReZoom and Tecnis IOLs are multifocal lenses that improve nearsightedness and age-related farsightedness (presbyopia).
In addition to advanced cataract surgery, Dr. Collins offers LASIK, conductive keratoplasty and other corneal surgeries, as well as dry eye treatment, comprehensive eye care and Botox injections.
