Joseph L. Parisi, MD, FRCSC, FACS, Brian R. Johnson, MD, and Donald P. Glaser, MD, are board-certified ophthalmologists and proud members of the eye care team at Clemson Eye, a well-established, multi-disciplinary eye care practice in South Carolina. Clemson Eye has been serving the medical needs of South Carolina patients for more than 35 years, during which time they have successfully performed more than 20,000 cataract surgery procedures. They offer the latest surgical techniques and cataract lens implant technologies for maximum patient safety, comfort and outstanding vision correction outcomes.
Drs. Parisi, Johnson and Glaser perform advanced “no-stitch” micro-incision cataract surgery with intraocular lens implants (IOLs). They begin the procedure by creating a small, self-sealing incision on the surface of the eye. Next, the eye's cataract-diseased crystalline lens is broken up and suctioned out through the use of an ultrasonic handpiece in a technique called phacoemulsification. Once this is accomplished, Drs. Parisi, Johnson and Glaser insert an artificial lens implant (IOL) designed to provide clear vision following cataract surgery. Clemson Eye offers the most advanced lens implants, including multifocal AcrySof ReSTOR and astigmatism-correcting AcrySof Toric lenses. Following surgery, patients who receive these high-tech lens implants enjoy clear vision at multiple distances and typically have reduced dependence on corrective eyewear.
Besides cataract surgery, Clemson Eye offers a range of eye care services, including routine eye exams, and treatments for diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, macular degeneration and retina conditions. Clemson Eye also provides pediatric ophthalmology and cosmetic facial rejuvenation services, and features a state-of-the-art optical shop. In addition, Clemson Eye offers laser vision correction at Spectrum LASIK under the leadership of Dr. Parisi.
