Harvey L. Carter, III, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract and refractive surgery. As a leading ophthalmologist in the north Texas area, Dr. Carter has more than 20 years' experience and has performed more than 10,000 eye surgeries. Dr. Carter and his surgical team perform the advanced "no-stitch, no-patch, no-shot" method of cataract surgery, which reduces pain and promotes rapid recovery. Dr. Carter begins the procedure by applying numbing eye drops and creating a small incision. Using high-energy sound waves, he breaks the clouded lens into small pieces, which are removed through the incision. Then, he replaces the clouded lens with a premium intraocular lens to give patients clearer vision.

More About Harvey L. Carter, III, MD

Harvey L. Carter, III, MD, graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas before attending medical school at Louisiana State University. He continued his education with an internship at the Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas and a residency at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. Dr. Carter was selected by the International Society of Refractive Surgery as a core investigator in a LASIK study. He is a member of several prestigious organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the Texas Medical Association, the Dallas County Medical Society and the Dallas Academy of Ophthalmology.
