Harvey L. Carter, III, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who serves Dallas cataract and refractive surgery patients. As a leading ophthalmologist in the north Texas area, Dr. Carter has more than 20 years' experience and has performed more than 10,000 eye surgeries. He was one of the first surgeons in the country to perform cataract surgery with the revolutionary Crystalens intraocular lens implants, and remains one of the world leaders in cataract surgery performed with Crystalens.

Dr. Carter and his surgical team perform the advanced "no-stitch, no-patch, no-shot" method of cataract surgery, which reduces pain and promotes rapid recovery. Dr. Carter begins the procedure by applying numbing eye drops and creating a small incision. Using high-energy sound waves, he breaks the clouded lens into small pieces, which are removed through the incision. Then, he replaces the clouded lens with a premium intraocular lens to give patients clearer vision.

Dr. Carter offers the most advanced intraocular lens implants (IOLs) available, including Crystalens, AcrySof ReSTOR and ReZoom, which can correct presbyopia, nearsightedness and farsightedness. As a result, most patients report improved vision immediately after the procedure.

More About Harvey L. Carter, III, MD

Harvey L. Carter, III, MD, graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas before attending medical school at Louisiana State University. He continued his education with an internship at the Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas and a residency at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. Dr. Carter was selected by the International Society of Refractive Surgery to be a core investigator in a LASIK study. He is a member of several prestigious organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the Texas Medical Association, the Dallas County Medical Society and the Dallas Academy of Ophthalmology.
